Hello! My name is Yvonne England. You can call me Ms. England (or Ms. E).
Currently, I am working toward my credential in Social Science and English. I have wanted to teach since I was in 3rd grade. I took some time off from school after completing a master's degree to work for nonprofits. After 7 years working for various organizations, I realized it was time to get back to my original goal of teaching.
As an educator, I believe that students thrive best in the classroom when they are involved in their learning. My classroom is a student-centered place where it is OKAY not to know things. We all learn together.
In order to support my students to engage in their learning, I work to incorporate various forms of sources, including primary and secondary historical documents, literature, art, and music. I realize students have various interests and passions, so I create an interdisciplinary learning environment where my students can investigate historical events in order to develop critical thinking and analytical skills. I want students to engage with their history so they make change now. I believe that each one of my students can change the world.
