Dr. Kim's research focuses on three broad areas. First, she works to improve screening and intervention practices for social-emotional resilience in K-12 students, which aligns with the School of Education (SOE)’s mission of promoting equitable social-emotional outcomes and building student strengths. Second, her research centers on promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in school psychology training and scholarship, aligning with SOE’s goal of developing future educators, researchers, and leaders who promote structures of opportunity for all in the K-12 education system. Finally, she studies the school climate experienced by K-12 school members from marginalized racial and ethnic backgrounds, supporting the SOE’s mission of creating inclusive learning and working environments for these members. Dr. Kim's ultimate goal is to strengthen the link between research and practice, leading to positive systemic changes in K-12 education and school psychology training and scholarship.
