Welcome! I am Bach Tran (Trần Xuân Bách). I graduated from the University of California, Riverside, with a BA in Business Economics and minors in Finance and Business Economics. I want to have a career in economics because I want to be part of the knowledge-creation process on political economy, the history of crisis-fighting, and financial integrity. I also want to explore the relationship between human interactions and policy—how it shapes political outcomes. Recently, I also developed an interest in jurisprudence and the history of policymaking after becoming more aware of policy debate around me.
Beyond my undergraduate curriculum at UC Riverside, I also spent a semester abroad at the National University of Singapore, completed a policy paper at the University of California Center Sacramento, and was part of UCOP's UC Investments Academy.
From January to April of 2025, I was in the southwest region of Vietnam to get a sense of the country's current economic context (as a volunteer + legal assistant) while preparing for the DALF (2 quite unrelated goals). My 2025 New Year's resolution is to add/initiate more projects on my GitHub page.
I initially created this page as part of the portfolio requirement for the EXCEL+ program at UCR, but I found myself attached to the website as it motivates me to seek out more adventures and new possibilities. Thus, I will update/upkeep the site to the best of my abilities. Please feel free to email if there are any recommendations on how I can improve upon :) (Sorry for not updating this website regularly, I just got addicted to books on mathematical logic)
Readings I like: Hegel's Elements of the Philosophy of Right, Bertrand Russell's Sceptical Essays, Robert Hetzel’s The Federal Reserve: A New History, Byung-Chul Han's Vita Contemplativa, and Harry Frankfurt's on Bullshit
Other interests: tennis, soccer, photography, fashion, thrifting, anything Art Deco, collecting random stuffs, feeding the stray cat that stop by my apartment everyday, and adventuring
Things I have been up to :)
A less organized version can be found in the Gallery section, which is just pictures I took during my adventures + some reflection(-ish)
