Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year, new and current AIG Families! I hope everyone is enjoying the rest of their summer and your child is getting excited about embarking upon their 4th or 5th grade year!
As we are nearing the beginning of the school year, please know that summer testing for new AIG qualification has concluded and parents should have received their child's test scores and whether they have been identified for the gifted program. If your child was previously in AIG last year, they will continue to be placed in the AIG classroom without any further testing (unless they're identified for one subject and test scores warranted further testing for the other subject.). Please let me know if you have questions regarding your child's identification.
For all newly qualified families, you are required to attend the "DEP" meeting in order for your child to be served in the AIG classroom. During the Differentiated Education Plan meeting, I will review the curriculum and expectations and you will need to sign your child's DEP, giving them permission to be in AIG. I'll keep you updated with time and dates as we get closer to the first day.
Open House at Stallings will take place on Thursday, August 24 between 3:00 and 5:00. This is a "drop in" event for you to find out who your child's teacher will be and drop off supplies. You will also be able to visit me in room A104 in the front hallway (this is our new classroom!!)!! New families, please come to sign your child's DEP and drop off supplies if they have them. Please be sure they are in a bag clearly marked with their name.
Please feel free to fill out the Parent Contact Form linked above at your earliest convenience (even if I had your child last year.)!
Throughout the school year, I will send weekly email updates to keep you abreast to the "goings on" in AIG along with curriculum updates. The majority of current information will be sent through these emails along with your child's Canvas site. (Did you know that you can sign onto their site as an "observer?"). This webpage will be updated less often or in the case there is something you will need access to throughout the year.
I look forward to creating and continuing a valuable partnership with your child and family this school year!!
*Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!! GO STALLIONS!!
