Ana Cano Ortiz, PhD in Botany from the University of Jaén, Spain, is a professor and researcher in the Department of Didactics of Experimental, Social, and Mathematical Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid. Throughout her career, she has worked at various educational levels and in the private sector, standing out in the fields of Didactics of Experimental Sciences and Botanical Bioindicators.
Her research focuses on the development of active teaching methodologies in science, with a special emphasis on using natural spaces as educational environments. She promotes direct contact with nature as a key tool for meaningful learning, facilitating the understanding of biological and environmental processes. Additionally, she incorporates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and education for sustainability into her work, highlighting the importance of training new generations in environmental stewardship.
Cano Ortiz has supervised doctoral theses, participated in interdisciplinary projects in biology, environmental education, and sustainability, and has over 100 publications in national and international journals. She has collaborated on various educational and scientific projects in Europe and Central America, demonstrating her commitment to science and innovative education, always oriented towards sustainable development.
