I am a fourth-year student and Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Language Science at University of California, Irvine, co-advised by Dr. Greg Scontras and Dr. Richard Futrell. My research interest lies in the communicative efficiency of human languages with a focus on production, especially word choice decisions made by both monolingual and bilingual speakers. I work with large scale corpora and computational models.
Before coming to UC Irvine, I received an M.A. in Chinese Pedagogy from Indiana University Bloomington, and worked as a Chinese language instructor at MIT and Northwestern University. I am therefore also interested in educational technology, and hope to build bridges between psycholinguistic research and language pedagogy.
I will be presenting a new code-switching production experiment at CAMP[8] at UC Davis in mid November. Looking forward to exchanging ideas with you!
Our project on the human-LM alignment on the comprehension and production of every-negation ambiguity has been accepted to PragLM 2025 and BlackboxNLP. See you in Montreal and Suzhou!
Our project on the acoustic analysis of Cantonese sibilant palatalization got accepted as a talk at NWAV-AP8. Check out our slides here and earlier analysis here.
