I am a second-year Ph.D. student in the Department of Language Science at University of California, Irvine, co-advised by Dr. Greg Scontras and Dr. Richard Futrell. My research interest lies in the communicative efficiency of human language with a focus on production, especially word choice decisions made by human speakers. I work with large scale corpora and computational models.
Before coming to UC Irvine, I received an M.A. in Chinese Pedagogy from Indiana University Bloomington, and worked as a Chinese language instructor at MIT and Northwestern University. I am therefore also interested in educational technology, and hope to build bridges between psycholinguistic research and language pedagogy.
