Q: Who can be a member?
A: Any UCI undergraduate who loves math or a related field is welcome to join AWM, regardless of major, year, or gender identity. You don't need to identify as a woman to become a member or attend our events. Our goal is to uplift marginalised genders in math by building a welcoming community that offers both emotional support and practical advice for succeeding in your coursework and beyond.
Q: What does it mean to be a member of AWM?
A: Being a member means being part of a supportive community where you can attend events, meet other students, build connections, and access academic and professional resources.
Q: How can I advocate for women in math?
A: You can support women and other underrepresented groups in math by attending events, encouraging inclusive spaces, sharing opportunities, and speaking up when you notice unequal treatment or barriers.
Q: Do I need to officially sign up to attend events?
A: We encourage you to RSVP to our events, usually found on our flyers and event announcements, so our team can prepare supplies accordingly. However, you are more than welcome to walk in and join in on the fun!
Q: Is there a membership fee?
A: To become a member, you can search for us on ZotSpot (formerly CampusGroups) and join our community. There is no membership fee to join AWM at UCI.
Q: How can I stay updated on upcoming events?
A: Follow us on Instagram, TikTok, Linktree, or join our mailing list and Discord for announcements and event updates.
