Description

Death Wish was a part of ACE’s 1st Battalion in the 1 lb plastic weight class. Death Wish was designed with one goal in mind, be ACE’s first full-body spinner and see what happens. Design on Death Wish started in the Fall 2023 and was quickly finished being completed in the early Winter 2024. At the first Antweight Assault Death Wish saw its debut competing with the rest of the 1st Battalion. Death Wish’s first outing was very successful placing second and standing the test of match after match. With Death Wish’s victory and the knowledge it gave the team Death Wish has been retired.

Design

As a plastic ant Death Wish is made of PLA+ printed in the Zotbotics Makerspace. Its shell went through five different iterations finalizing on a shell that comprised over a third of the robot's total weight with a symmetric undercutting wedge. The Shell was directly mounted to the weapon motor atop a two-wheel tank drive system. While control and stability left much to be desired Death Wish’s best feature was its simplicity leading to durability and many of its victories.
