ACE's most ambitious autonomous, 12lb, and 30lb battlebots

Shear Force | 30lb Vertical

Shear Force is ACE's first 30lb BattleBot, with it's focus on a specialized angled double disk spinner. This project is the team's most ambitious project with many challenges faced in it's design and manufacturing. Shear Force is a one of a kind, and is the flagship BattleBot of UCI!

Grassmaster | 12lb Horizontal

Grassmaster is ACE's first 12lb horizontal spinner combat robot. It first competed in April 2026 and has undergone recent redesigns since its conception. The majority of components were manufactured at UCI by the team. They seek to improve on the design for future iterations.

CognaCuddles | 3lb Autonomous

CognaCuddles is ACE's first autonomous combat robot. CognaCuddles is a ring spinner, utilizing camera and sensor spatial localization and dynamic target tracking to create its autonomous motion in the arena. With proof of concept of the robot's capabilities, a 12lb version will be developed in the future.

Antihilator | 12lb (Retired)

Antihilator, originally called "Anteater Annihilator", was ACE's first 12lb combat robot on the Heavyweight team. It first competed in 2024 and went through several upgrades throughout the years. Antihilator represented UCI one last time in December 2025 in a competition, securing 3rd place.

Our Team

Our team consists of 5 subteams:

Chassis - Oversees the development of the chassis frame of the robots, including design, simulation, and manufacturing

Dynamics - Oversees the development of the drive and weapon systems, including linkages, weapon geometry, and design simulation

Power Systems - Oversees the development of the electrical power systems of the robots, including power distribution, PCB manufacturing, and subsystem testing

Control Systems - Oversees the development of the autonomous and control systems of the robots, including system calibration, computations, and communications software

Operations - Oversees the logistical, media, and outreach components for all teams in ACE Robotics
