I absolutely adore UCI's campus. It is so different from the spaces I'm familiar with. I'm from a small beach town a bit up north. I guess I can't really compare my entire hometown to a college campus. While I could talk about every single part of the UCI campus that I've experienced, here are a few spaces that stood out to me.
Aldrich park. How could I not talk about this? I remember when I first visited UCI and stepped foot onto Aldrich for the first time. It was after I committed to the university and the first time it really sunk in; I am going to be a college student. I was just so amazed by all the greenery and biodiversity at the center of this huge campus. It's really easy to get lost in the landscape of the park, but I'm so used to flat areas, so Aldrich's hills really hit me hard at first. This part of campus definitely makes me feel like I'm in some sort of different world. Also, I heard somewhere that Aldrich was based off of New York City's Central Park, and I respectfully have a hard time bridging that connection. Central Park or not, Aldrich is still beautiful regardless.
My personal favorite spot on campus! The outdoor seating area by the ICS and engineering buildings. I really enjoy the couches. They are way too comfortable, as you can see. It probably is not a good idea to nap in public like this, but can you blame me? The couches are so comfortable (as comfortable as college furniture gets) and you get killer views of Aldrich from a bit higher up.
A playlist that I created with a few songs I think are related to worldbuilding!!
