Romina is a first-generation immigrant born in Peru and raised in Kansas, as well as a graduate of the University of Chicago (Class of 2020). She began her work with survivors within the criminal justice system in 2019, working alongside survivors on orders of protection and helping them secure asylum. Her continued passion for working with the communities most affected by gender-based violence and her desire to work against its roots after seeing the systemic injustices facing survivors inspired Romina to turn to organizing. Romina now works with Healing to Action, where she collaborates with survivor-leaders to build their leadership and collective power. She is excited to focus on survivor-led organizing as a community-based solution to gender-based violence and continue exploring healing justice as their Community Organizer.
