Protists and Fungi

MY NOTES FOR FUNGI AND PROTISTS:

Protists Notes

Fungi Notes

3 Things I learned about Protists and Fungi:

PROTISTS:

1. Protists aren't plants, animals, or fungi, but they can act plant-like (autotrophs), animal-like (heterotrophs), and fungi-like (Decomposers and Parasites).

2. Protists are eukaryotes and most are unicellular.

3. Protists are classified on where they get their energy.

FUNGI:

1. Most fungi are multicellular, but there are a few which are unicellular.

2. Fungi are nature's claening and recycling crew because they are decomposers.

3. Fungi have cell walls and thrive in warm, damp, places.

Connections:

I can connect to protists because carrageenan, which is extracted from red algae, a plant-like protist, is in everyday foods like puddings and ice cream because it makes it thick. I am that kind of person that will have ice cream after every dinner if I could, so I can connect to protists because it is in the ice cream I eat.

I can connect to fungi because yeast is a form of fungi and it is in everyday foods like bread. I can see how many other people can also connect to this because sandwiches are a common lunch meal.
