Using an iPad to draw on the Zoom whiteboard

If you want to be able to simulate drawing on a chalkboard/whiteboard, you can do this quite easily by using Zoom's whiteboard feature and using an iPad with an Apple Pencil to do the drawing.

  1. Download the Zoom app onto your iPad. Log in to your Zoom account with the app (use the SSO option; follow the instructions included when you received an email with your Zoom license information).

  2. Make sure your Apple Pencil is charged.

  3. Start your Zoom meeting on your computer, and join it on your iPad. When you join from your iPad, join without audio or video.

  4. When you are ready to draw on the Zoom whiteboard, touch anywhere on the Zoom screen on your iPad to reveal the menu. Click the Share Content link, and then click the Whiteboard option.

  5. Everyone should now be able to see the whiteboard on your iPad. Start drawing!

  6. You can select different drawing colors and an eraser from a menu at the bottom of the screen.

  7. When you're done, touch the little downward-pointing arrow at the top of the iPad screen to reveal the Zoom menu bar, and then touch Stop Share. Alternatively, from your computer, go to View Options at the top of the Zoom screen and select Stop Participant's Sharing from the dropdown menu.
