Example Zoom Etiquette Guide
This is a generic version, which you will probably want to modify for your courses.
In large classes:
Keep your webcam off and you mic muted at all times (unless instructed otherwise)
Use the Chat tool in Zoom to ask questions
In small classes:
Keep your webcam on when possible
But turn it off if there is something distracting or private in the background
If possible, avoid being lit from behind
Do not eat, look at other media, talk to other people in the room, etc.
Keep your mic muted unless you are talking
Raise your hand (virtually using the Participants tool) to ask a question aloud
Ask questions using the Chat tool in Zoom at any time
In both large and small classes:
Join the class a few minutes in advance (but not more than 5 minutes)
Wear headphones/earbuds if you are in a noisy environment
Use your official name as your name in Zoom (with a nickname in parentheses)
Close any other windows/programs on your computer that might be distracting
Do not engage in any activities that are distracting or disruptive ("zoom bombing")
It would be a violation of the Code of Academic Conduct and the Principles of Community to intentionally disrupt a class, post offensive or racist comments/images, etc.
