What is Global Citizenship?
"Global citizenship is the umbrella term for social, political, environmental, and economic actions of globally minded individuals and communities on a worldwide scale. The term can refer to the belief that individuals are members of multiple, diverse, local and non-local networks rather than single actors affecting isolated societies. Promoting global citizenship in sustainable development will allow individuals to embrace their social responsibility to act for the benefit of all societies, not just their own." (United Nations)

U21 Global Citizen
U21 Global Citizen
U21 Global Citizens is a 3 week online program for students across the U21 global network, where participants complete independent activities designed to further their understanding of and ability to take rapid action towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In 2024 I focused my learning on SDG 4 (Quality Education), and in 2026 on SDG 13 (Climate Action).

"The Global Impact Fellows Program (GIF) is a 1 year commitment to leading or assisting a student-led initiative that addresses a global+local issue where students can hone project management, leadership and specific technical skills in an environment where they have real autonomy. The Fellows' work supports a campus-wide initiative of Global Education for All that aims to help every UC Davis student increase their ability to collaborate effectively and equitably across cultural and geographic boundaries" (Global Learning Hub)
I was a Project Participant during the inaugural cohort of Global Impact Fellows in 2024-2025, where I assisted with the Discovering Academia project. I was a Project Lead during the 2025-2026 academic year, where I created and ran the inaugural SDG Symposium.

The inaugural SDG Symposium strives to address the lack of awareness surrounding the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also developing the capacity of attendees to pursue actionable change around the goals in their current and future work.
The SDGs provide a clear framework for how to make specific and substantial progress towards environmental prosperity, which while incredibly valuable is unfortunately overlooked in many US-based spaces.
The SDG Symposium covers each of the 17 SDGs in a variety of ways to provide educational opportunities for attendees to engage with the goals. It aims to foster the skills and confidence necessary for attendees to take local action, such as through tabling and poster presentation sessions, panels, Q&As, and more.
