Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program
Welcome!
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) is a federally-funded program through the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA NIFA). EFNEP offers nutrition education to limited-resource families and children nationwide. In California, University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) administers EFNEP. The program is available at no cost to qualified schools and youth groups.
Our evidence-based curricula support the California Department of Education Standards including Common Core Standards for language arts and math. Healthy and active students are more likely to have improved academic performance and fewer behavioral challenges.
If you are a teacher, EFNEP Nutrition Educators are available to provide an online orientation through Zoom and will schedule live guest visits to your in-person or virtual classroom to reinforce nutrition concepts. If you would like to receive access to class materials online, please provide your name and email address to your EFNEP Nutrition Educator or email caefnep@ucanr.edu. All lesson materials are stored in Google Drive.
