Project Description

This is an audio project of clips of interviews with my Grandpa Kia Chue Vang and Uncle Song Cheng Vang. I started this project because I wanted to know more about my grandpa’s journey from Laos to Thailand and his life in America. I have heard of the story but it was more of a brief general story. However, from the interview, I was able to learn more about his life and get to understand what he thought of life in America. I interview my uncle to get a contrast to my grandpa’s life, however it was great to learn more about his life too and what he did as a child in Thailand. This project was influenced by Dr. Isao Fujimoto in that reading his book made me think of my family history and made me contemplate learning more and eventually make a record of our Vang family history.
