Reflecting on how much Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies has empowered Cat, she really wanted to dedicate her project to it. From Isao Fujimotos’ dedication and passion to community-based activism, research, and education, she has been inspired to serve the people as a leader and learner. In the podcast, the discussion between Dr. Robyn Rodriguez (Chair of UC Davis Asian American Studies & Founding Director of Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies) and Cat brings light to how the Bulosan Center is a symbol of social justice through its mission of community empowerment. With appreciation, they both honor the power and love that they have both cultivated from the opportunities, experiences, and people they have encountered through the Bulosan Center, while also highlighting how they have shared this collective hope with the community.
Cat DeGuzman, a second-year Asian American Studies major at UC Davis, has shown and continued to foster her passion for leadership, education, and activism throughout her internship with Bulosan Center for Filipinx Studies. As a Student Ambassador, Cat has developed an interest in uplifting the voices, history, and power of her community through representation and advocacy.
