About

The Cruz Reynoso Papers are housed in Special Collections at UC Davis. His papers include correspondence, work files, political ephemera, and other miscellaneous items. These papers detail his many roles including serving as the Director of the California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA), an Associate Justice of the 3rd District Court of Appeal, and the first Latino Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court. Additionally, he served as a law professor at the University of New Mexico, UCLA, and became the inaugural holder of the Boochever and Bird Chair for the Study and Teaching of Freedom and Equality at UC Davis. Apart from the life of Justice Reynoso, these papers also provide insight into the Mexican-American social and political experience, the practice of law, and the changing political culture of California during the twentieth century.
