Brentwood 4-H
Brentwood 4-H
What is 4-H?
4-H is a non-profit youth organization that was started over 100 years ago as a way to make public school education more connected to country life. Over the years, the focus of 4-H became focused around the personal growth of the member. Life skills development became a part of 4-H projects, activities and events to help youth become contributing, productive, self-directed members of society.
Today, 4-H offers opportunities in communications, leadership, career development, livestock, home improvement, and computer technology to 7 million American youth. Programs are found in rural and urban areas throughout the country. 4-H continues to grow and develop with the head, heart, hands, and health of our youth. 4-H programs were reorganized with a widened project base aimed to reach a broader audience than just rural boys and girls. Projects were offered in rural electricity, tractor maintenance, entomology, and home economics.
As the largest youth development organization in the nation, 4-H helps young people to reach their full potential as competent, confident, leaders of character who contribute and are connected to their communities. In 4-H, youth design and participate in their own programs and activities. This unique learn-by-doing model teaches essential skills that youth will use throughout their lives. Whether youth are building rockets, raising animals, or planting vegetables, 4-H gives young people the skills they need to thrive and succeed.
Brentwood 4-H offers a variety of project groups that youth may participate in. We have both animal and non-animal projects, as well as various committees and community service projects.
