Professional Biography

Albena Goulisheva is a student at the University of California, Davis, who graduated from Aragon High School in 2021, in San Mateo, California. She is passionate about advocating for and learning about social justice and human rights issues, and is currently pursuing a degree in Political Science on the Pre-Law track. Albena began exploring her interest in politics and advocacy in high school as a conference delegate and club member in Yale Model Congress, working the poll booths during the 2020 presidential election, participating in the ACLU’s summer advocacy institute program, as well as being Vice President of Street Art Activism Club at her high school, the latter combining Albena’s interests in both art and politics. Albena has practiced art her whole life through painting, ceramics, sculpture, and drawing and is well accomplished in her artistic endeavors. She won 8 first place ribbons, two second, and one third in the San Mateo County Fair Art Competition. Albena also enjoys trivia, being Secretary of Quiz Bowl Club in her high school, where her team of 5 placed 11th out of 31 schools in 2019 in NAQT tournaments. Furthermore, Albena has found a passion in working with children, working as a summer camp counselor for children 4-10, as well as a math and reading tutor. Albena is excited to see where exploring new passions at UC Davis will lead her as she joins clubs and activities while pursuing her Political Science degree.
