Students wore their best smiles and First Dress for last week’s Photo Days. It was great to see students excitedly catching up with friends, straightening ties, and helping one another look their best before stepping in front of the camera.
Last Friday, faculty, staff, and students teamed up for one of our annual Service Afternoons. Continuing our partnership with Friends of Cedarvale and Toronto Nature Stewards, volunteers helped advance ongoing sustainability efforts in the Cedarvale Ravine. Thirty students, as well as faculty and staff members, participated, enjoying a meaningful, hands-on, and rewarding experience that strengthened our commitment to environmental stewardship. It was also wonderful to see our community take part in Fun Friday wellbeing activities, which this month included House soccer, a sewing lesson, 3-D pumpkin designing and a Spooky Scavenger Hunt.
Monday’s Principal’s Assembly was dedicated to raising awareness about neurodiversity. Students heard from our Learning Steward, who shared some important messages, including the idea that “true excellence isn’t about fitting into one definition of success. It’s about recognizing that there’s no single way to think, learn or understand the world [...] To see learning not as a race to the right answer, but as a process of understanding yourself, how you learn best, and respecting how others learn too.” The heads of the Neurodiversity Affinity Space also delivered a presentation on different neurodiversities and the importance of celebrating the different cognitive styles at UCC.
Registration opened at noon on Oct. 14 for three-way conferences at the Upper School.
Nov. 5 (in-person only): Each meeting will be 5 minutes long with 5 minutes of travel time in between meetings.
Nov. 6 (virtual only): Each virtual meeting will be five minutes.

SchoolCloud closes: Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 12 p.m.

We are thrilled to be hosting the Stewards’ Dance for all Year 11 and 12 students this year on Friday, Nov. 21. The Stewards’ Dance is hosted and planned by the Board of Stewards with faculty supervision. The dance will take place on UCC campus from 8–10:30 p.m.. The theme is “Spades and Hearts” with attendees being asked to wear black (spades) or red (hearts) formal wear.
Each UCC student in Years 11 or 12 may bring one guest from another school, but by no means should they feel like they have to. If your child plans on attending the Stewards’ Dance, parents must fill out this form. Guests from another school need to fill out the guest form. Students will be billed $25 per ticket. Students will also be receiving a copy of these forms through their school email.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Dear UCC Community,
Today, many indigenous communities in northern Canada lack access to sports equipment, preventing participation in sports activities that we know so well. To alleviate this issue, we have partnered with L’École Annia Whiskeychan Memorial Elementary School, a grade school in northern Quebec.
We're asking for hockey, basketball, volleyball, baseball, soccer and broomball equipment for kids between the ages of 5 and 12 before Nov. 11. Any old equipment would be greatly appreciated, and even a small donation can make a huge difference.
With your help, we're hoping to fill at least three boxes with equipment and change the lives of disadvantaged kids in the Whiskeychan community.
If you would like any more information of the destination of your donation, here is the website for École Annie Whiskeychan Memorial Elementary School.
Any questions? Please feel free to contact us.
Class of 2026
Hello all,
We will be holding a hygiene product drive in partnership with two non-profit organizations, Street Health and Filling the Gap Dental Outreach. These charities aim to help less fortunate people in Toronto, mostly those at risk of or experiencing homelessness, to have access to basic hygiene products. Street Health has a broader scope, working with a range of hygiene products, while Filling the Gap focuses solely on dental products and provides dental care.
The drive will launch on Nov. 6 and will run for two weeks. Donation bins will be set up in Bernick Family Foyer, and we invite students, staff, and families to contribute hygiene products.
There are a few requirements for donated items:
All products must be new, unopened, unexpired and in good condition
All products should be travel-sized or smaller, as per the charities’ requirements
Suggested items include:
Toothbrushes and toothpaste
Floss and alcohol-free mouthwash
Soap and deodorant
Travel-sized shampoo and conditioner
Other small hygiene essentials
Thank you for your support in helping our school community make a meaningful impact,
Andrew Adair and Teo Barbulovich-Nad

UCC is proud to support Take Our Kids to Work Day for Year 9 students on Wednesday, Nov. 5. This national career exploration event, now in its third decade, invites students to spend the day at the workplace of a parent, relative, friend, or volunteer host, witnessing first-hand the world of work. In doing so, students begin early career planning, gain insight into future goals and endeavours, and learn from the knowledge, experience, and advice of professionals. The event also provides families with a valuable opportunity to discuss career prospects and fosters connections between education and the skills needed in today’s workplace.
This year’s theme, Lift Up the Future, encourages all of us to support young people as they imagine the world they want to build. Year 9 students will learn more in an upcoming assembly, and participating families are reminded to communicate their child’s absence through the SchoolPass App or by emailing usattendance@ucc.on.ca.
