The boarding community enjoyed an exciting visit from a member of the Toronto Fire Department and a friend of Wedd’s RA Mr. Duncan, who arrived on campus in a fire truck. Boarders had a fantastic time touring the truck, learning about the specialized equipment, and hearing firsthand about fire safety and life as a firefighter.

Boarders spent a wonderful afternoon with Mrs. McKinney at Grant House getting into the Thanksgiving holiday spirit through baking. Working collaboratively in teams, the boys learned to craft two classic Thanksgiving desserts from scratch — a warm apple crumble and a rich apple cake. From measuring and mixing ingredients to chopping apples, students embraced every step of the baking process. The kitchen was filled with laughter, great conversation, and the comforting aromas of cinnamon and baked apples. Once everything came out of the oven, everyone gathered together to enjoy the delicious fruits of their teamwork and festive baking effort.

Boarders gathered for a lively Sunday games afternoon filled with strategy, laughter and friendly competition. Testing both their skills and luck, students faced off in fast-paced rounds of Skull and Cheese Thief. It was a fantastic way to unwind, connect, have fun with peers and showcase clever tactics over engaging gameplay.

The culinary stakes were high during the UCC Boarding First Annual Lasagna Tasting Competition! Senior House Advisers Mr. McCubbin, Ms. Blagona and RA Ms. Borsoi, each prepared their signature lasagna recipe, offering boarders a delicious lineup of classic flavors. Students took on the role of judges, taste testing every entry with enthusiasm. After eager deliberation and voting, Mr. McCubbin was officially crowned the boarding lasagna making champion! Congratulations Mr. McCubbin!
