UCC will host a Toronto Public Health (TPH) vaccination clinic on Monday, Nov. 6 at the Prep School for Year 8 students who require catch-up opportunities.
Vaccinations available at the clinic:
● Meningococcal* — to prevent meningitis
● Human papillomavirus — to prevent cancers
● Hepatitis B — to prevent liver cancer
A reminder that under Ontario’s Immunization of School Pupil Act (ISPA), all students are required to be up-to-date with Meningococcal vaccines or have a valid exemption. Hepatitis B and HPV vaccines prevent cancers and are voluntary for school attendance. A consent package to take home is available upon request to the Health Centre.
To prepare for the clinic, please remember to:
Read the Hepatitis B, HPV and meningococcal vaccine pamphlet.
Print off, complete, and return the consent form only if you want your child to be vaccinated. For more information about how to complete the consent form, please review the SIP Checklist. Return the signed hard copy to the Prep Health Centre by Friday, Sept. 29.
For more information about these vaccines, please talk to your doctor or call Toronto Public Health at 416-338-7600.
Thank you for your ongoing support to keep our students and school community healthy. For any additional information, please reach out to us at health.centre@ucc.on.ca.

Assembly speakers at Principal's Assembly on September 25
The Upper School will host assembly speakers Dr. Angele Alook (York University), and David Gray-Donald ’05, who have written about ways in which Indigenous concepts and traditions can help guide solutions to problems such as climate change. They are co-authors of the bestselling book published this year, The End of this World: Climate Justice in So-Called Canada.
Following the assembly, the speakers will be available in Room 138A from 10:30–11:30 a.m. for open discussion with interested students, faculty and staff.
Angele Alook is an assistant professor in the School of Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies at York University. She is a proud member of Bigstone Cree nation in Treaty 8 territory, where she has carried out research on issues of sociology of family and work, resource extraction, school-to-work transitions, Indigenous identity and seeking the good life (miyo-pimatisiwin) in work-life balance. Her most recent research is about a just transition away from fossil fuels, Indigenous caring economies and Indigenous climate justice.
David Gray-Donald ’05 is a journalist writing about climate change, Indigenous rights, and climate justice activism. He graduated from UCC in 2005 and received a BA&Sc (Environment & Biology) from McGill University. Dear UCC Parents,
Starting next week, I will be launching a LEGO Drive as part of my CAS project. This initiative aims to collect LEGO sets for a wonderful cause, which will be used as part of an A-Day LEGO Booth and afterwards, will be donated to the Horizons Program, an initiative that supports less fortunate students and integrates LEGO into its educational activities.
How Can You Help?
If your household has unused or outgrown LEGO sets, I encourage you to consider donating them. This is a fantastic opportunity to declutter and contribute to a meaningful cause at the same time.
Launch Date: The LEGO Drive has already commenced in the Upper School and will launch in the Prep on September 25. Bins can be found in the Bernick Family Foyer and the Prep School Bitove Lounge. Both drives will conclude on October 13.
I appreciate everyone’s support of my initiative. If you have any questions or require further information about the LEGO Drive, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Adrian Mak ’25

Thank you to the amazing group of volunteers for being a part of a hugely successful 2023 Terry Fox Run at UCC. We're still counting all the donations but we expect to hit $260,000 raised this year, which is well beyond our expectations. We had many compliments from the participants on how much you made the day great.
Get ready for our school run this Friday in the morning!
Thank you and hope to see you next year!
