UCC Boarding kicked off November with a community dinner celebrating Diwali, the Hindu festival of Lights. The event welcomed day school community members, colleagues, and peers and featured profound speeches by students and staff. Mr. Jugoon, the Upper School Pluralism Coordinator, welcomed students with a personal anecdote and blessing—the student-curated menu paired well with a candle-lit atmosphere, highlighting the strong connection between boarders. From the boarding community, we wish those who observe a bright and joyous Diwali.

Big win for Seaton’s House and UCC Boarding, as they take the title of house soccer champions this fall. The season was a hard-fought trial of teamwork, house leadership and camaraderie amongst the boarders, with friendly competition between challenging and talented opponents cumulating in a dramatic final game with a score of 2-0.

This past weekend in the boarding house was a blend of familiar, laid-back activities that offered students the perfect opportunity to unwind and embrace the boarding community. Yet, it also brought forth exhilarating new experiences that created unforgettable memories.

On Friday evening, it was a night of relaxation and rejuvenation. The students indulged in an extensive array of their favourite foods. As they feasted, the atmosphere was further enriched by card games and a great selection of movies. The students reveled in each other's company, their laughter and camaraderie echoing through the boarding house. It was a night where good food and good company became the heartwarming antidote to a long week.

Saturday brought a captivating twist to the weekend as we embarked on a journey to Activate, Canada's premier active gaming facility. Here, our students were thrust into a realm of active games that demanded both physical and mental engagement. These games compelled them to move their bodies, igniting their competitive spirits and cognitive prowess. In groups, students traversed through many challenges, striving to conquer levels and secure coveted high scores. The night was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and the thrill of shared victories, reinforcing the bonds of our boarding community.

As the weekend drew to a close, we mirrored the beginning with a cozy gathering in the common room. Once again, we enjoyed delicious food, and the comforting chatter of good conversation filled the room. It was a fitting conclusion to a weekend that had seamlessly woven familiar traditions with exhilarating new adventures, leaving everyone with cherished memories and a strong sense of togetherness.
