The winter sports season was nothing short of phenomenal! The Blues basketball teams dominated the courts, with all four teams making it to the finals — the first for the varsity program in 15 seasons! Special shoutout to the U16A and B teams for finishing first during the regular season, and huge congratulations to the U16A team for clinching a nail-biter championship victory against Crestwood Preparatory College. The basketball program is clearly thriving and in good hands.
In its inaugural year, our open alpine team skied their way to an impressive second-place finish in CISAA, with one racer even qualifying for OFSAA and finishing 7th overall. We are so proud of all the effort and hard work put in by both the athletes and the coaches as we navigated this season together.
Our squash teams continued to have great success. The U16 team had a great year finishing 3rd at the CISAA championships, and our varsity team continued their reign of dominance, securing their 9th consecutive CISAA championship.
On the ice, our hockey teams showcased great skill and teamwork throughout the season, culminating in our varsity team making it to the finals of the Canadian Prep School Hockey Alliance championship — a testament to their hard work and dedication.
Last but certainly not least, let's not forget about our swimming team, who performed exceptionally well at the CISAA Championship, winning the Open Boys, Jr Boys, and Overall Boys trophies. Their success didn't stop there, as they sent an impressive 20 competitors to OFSAA. Best of luck as they represent themselves, the team and the College in front of the rest of Ontario.
Overall, it was a winter sports season to remember, filled with incredible highs and lows, outstanding examples of teamwork and sportsmanship, and, by any measure, fantastic results. As the weather continues to change and the world comes out of hibernation, we are extremely excited to start the Spring season and trade our skates, basketballs and swimming jammers for lacrosse sticks, badminton racquets and scrum caps, but not before a much needed break. Take care of yourselves, relax, recharge, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on campus at the end of March.
All the best,
David Brown
