This past Saturday afternoon our boarding community engaged in an epic dodgeball match for the ages. This Rao Cup dodgeball match between our two boarding houses, Wedd's and Seaton's, was more competitive than any other weekend program. Students competed for pride and for honour on the dodgeball court, and ultimately only one house could come out on top. When the match began, one house stood severely outnumbered with only five students showing up compared to the nearly 30 students from the other house. However, the scene was set for a historic underdog story. The five students fought valiantly and battled to the very last whistle, attempting to overcome the significant disadvantage they had begun with. Ultimately their efforts came up short and Wedd's with their staggering numbers was able to come out on top.
Strikes, spares, splits and spin — Seatonians and Weddites practiced their bowling skills (and lingo) during a glow-in-the-dark evening at PlayTime Bowl in Toronto. Boarders shared the evening, the lanes and a few laughs with their fellow students from Branksome Hall and the Bishop Strachan School. A good time was had by all, and we counted it as especially successful when everyone returned home wearing the correct shoes.
On Sunday, Dec. 3, we were very fortunate in Boarding to host a couple of wonderful dogs from Sunshine Therapy Dogs during a much-needed study break. Students spent time with therapy dogs, Bella and Twilight, who were very friendly and enjoyed the attention. It was great to hear each dog's adoption story from their owners and how much they have brought smiles and happiness during their visits to hospitals, schools and retirement homes. We look forward to their next visit —they are always welcome in Seaton's and Wedd's houses!
