The Design Program supports students in developing an understanding and appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of the world we live in.
It allows our students to practice project management skills while leveraging the world's technologies. We use design thinking approaches to work through project-based units where students address a problem and add value to the world.
The process starts with understanding users' needs through research and empathy skills, and then studying the impact of proposed solutions. However, we are never really done as we iterate and collaborate on ideas. In this program, we developed core technical skills in digital media, coding and robotics, and product design. All students learn a suite of skills and target the ones where they are passionate and want to learn more. The learning goes on well past this program, and many students find their way back to the lab to keep building and learning.
