Union City High School's Boys and Girls Swimming programs have their origin in the summer recreation program that began in 1997. Under the name of the Union City Tiburones, students from all grade levels within the school district began to learn to swim and participate in competition against other summer recreation teams in the area such as Secaucus, Jersey City, North Bergen, West New York, and Bayonne. In 2000, both Union Hill High School and Emerson High School began their own programs as part of the H.C.I.A.A. In 2007, the Emerson High School Boys Swim Team captured the H.C.I.A.A. Division Championship under the guidance of Head Coach Anthony Snarski. In the fall of 2008, the two high school programs combined to form the UCHS Soaring Eagles Swim Team. Since that time, the UCHS Boys Swim Team has won the H.C.I.A.L. Division Championship once in 2012, and the UCHS Girls Swim Team has won the All County and Division Championships six times: in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
