The program aims to equip candidates with knowledge and skills that will enable them to render quality medical laboratory services that conform to regional and international standards. Additionally, the program seeks to develop critical thinkers who can communicate effectively, and who make informed decisions, demonstrating strong ethical and moral values. The first two years of the BMLS program include general and support core courses. Years 3 and 4 are dedicated to professional courses where students will have the opportunity to develop practical/clinical competencies through lab courses and internships.
Applicants must possess a GPA of 2.5 or above in Biology and Chemistry or CXC passes at the general proficiency level in Biology, Chemistry, Math and English to be considered for admission.
The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) only has one (1) intake per academic year in August. There is NO January intake.
The University of Belize has three (3) application deadlines: (1) Early Bird – due last Friday in January (2) Regular – due last Friday in February (3) Last Call – due last Friday in May. However, all applicants to the Faculty of Health Sciences must apply by the last Friday in March.
