Students decorated their name tags, built with blocks to represent what peace means to them, and explored what it means to be a Mindful Mentor. We experimented with the singing bowl, noticing the vibrations and where we could feel them in our bodies, and visited our school’s Peace Pole to explore what it represents. Most importantly, we are learning how to control our bodies and voices, listen, and be active learners during our morning sessions. With 30 students sharing a small space, we are learning that we are all in this together. Remembering how we show up, participate, and care for one another reflects who we are as a group.
Students practiced Wolf Breath and noticed the strategies they used as they went through each step. Children created their own calming rocks using acrylic markers. These rocks will be theirs to keep throughout the school year as tools to help them calm, ground, and refocus themselves. Students also expressed interest in designing their own Wolf Breath steps to share with their classrooms, creating student-designed alternatives to the AI-generated visuals. Finally, we used the See–Think–Wonder thinking routine to explore pictures of peaceful outdoor spaces, gathering ideas and inspiration for what we might create around our Peace Pole.
