Mindful Mentors is a morning SEL program at Wickliffe Progressive Elementary School that helps students develop emotional regulation, self-awareness, and healthy relationships before the school day begins.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is a school-based approach that supports students’ growth by teaching practical life skills that help them learn, work with others, and feel successful at school.
Mindful Mentors is the next evolution of Wickliffe’s Breathe for Change program, expanding mindfulness beyond individual practice into student leadership across the school.
Mindful Mentors offers a welcoming morning space for students to practice mindfulness, regulate emotions, and arrive at school calm, focused, and ready to learn.
Mindfulness Mentors is also a K–5 student leadership program for students who want to model and guide mindful practices for classmates and teachers throughout the school.
Excited to learn and practice mindfulness strategies
Interested in leading and supporting peers and teachers
Ready to represent their classroom as a student leader
Choosing to participate because they want to
(Participation is optional and student-driven)
Students will meet three times per month before school, from 7:30–8:10 a.m. Consistent attendance is important, as each session builds on the previous one.
