The final round of SciNAG will be held as a quiz-bee. Participants should be grouped in their respective teams where they will collectively answer a number of questions. There will be three levels of difficulty, namely easy, average, and difficult. The team that garners the most points over the duration of the Final Round will be crowned the champions of SciNAG.
Participants are to change their Zoom nicknames using the following format: “School_Nickname”. Schools with two or more finalists are to place the corresponding team letter after the school name. For example: “CSQC-A_John”, “CSQC-B_Mabel”, and “CSQC-C_Fin”.
Participants must mute their microphones upon entering the Zoom meeting.
Participants must dress appropriately according to university standards. It is also highly encouraged that participants be in their school uniforms.
Participants must treat the Finals as if it were a face to face event. They must situate themselves in a location free from distractions and background noise to avoid any unnecessary disruptions.
Questions will be projected in sync with the breakout rooms, following the program flow.
Team standings will be projected in the main room after each question for the benefit of spectators and moderators.
Breakout rooms will be composed of the team finalists and their respective facilitators. Moderators and spectators will remain in the main session.
Each breakout room will have two facilitators:
A facilitator to project the powerpoint containing the questions and read out the questions.
A facilitator to confirm and input the answer in the sheet presented in the Zoom Main Session, and monitor the participants for suspicious behavior.
To ensure that the participants are not cheating, they are required to:
turn on their cameras for the whole duration of the event; and
make their hands visible on camera every question-answer time.
Participants may put their hands out of camera view for the following reasons:
In between questions-answer periods when the scores are being inputted and checked.
During mathematics questions, they are allowed to use a clean sheet of paper and a pen to solve.
Participants can only communicate with their teammates using Zoom breakout room audio. Team members are not allowed to chat with the exception of the team leader who will chat the team’s final answer.
If one participant will have internet problems and his/her camera will be turned off or will be disconnected from the Zoom Call, he/she shall be muted for THAT particular question-answer time only.
Participants will neither know their standing nor the standing of other teams. They will only know if their answer is right or wrong for each question.
Teams will participate in the quiz-bee through their Zoom accounts.
A link to a Zoom Pro meeting should be provided to hold the Final Round.
Teams will be separated into individual breakout rooms with one Facilitator assigned to each team.
Teams are free to discuss amongst themselves in their respective breakout sessions.
Teams may freely inquire about anything related to the round and the competition. The facilitator is in charge of answering these inquiries.
Participants will be given thirty (30) seconds , sixty (60) seconds, and ninety (90) seconds to answer the easy , average, and difficult round questions respectively.
Each question answered correctly will merit a number of points corresponding to the level of difficulty:
Easy questions merit 1 point for each correct answer.
Average questions merit 2 points for each correct answer.
Difficult questions merit 3 points for each correct answer.
Teams caught cheating over the duration of the Final Round in any manner according to the Student Handbook of UA&P shall automatically be disqualified.
Questions will be flashed on the screen and read twice by the facilitator present.
After reading out the questions twice, the facilitator will start the timer.
In the Easy round, participants will be given 30 seconds per question to discuss and answer
In the Average round, participants will be given 60 seconds per question to discuss and answer
In the Difficult round, participants will be given 90 seconds per question to discuss and answer
In the allotted time per question, the team leader must chat the group’s final answer. Should the team leader get disconnected from the meeting, anyone from the team may take charge in chatting the team’s final answer.
The first answer typed by the team leader or representative thereof will be considered the final answer. Thus, there shall be no room for typos.
In the event of a tie, a clincher round will be held to break it.
