Charlo Campbell
My personal choice of someone I admire is my cousin Charlo Campbell. Charlo is my cousin from my mother’s side. Although Charlo is my cousin he is more like an uncle to me. Charlo calls my mother his sister and when my family moved back to Arkansas Charlo moved in with my mother. Growing up I easily remember Charlo would give us a message every day before going to the school house. Every day he would tell us a different message because he could feel our emotions without even asking.
Charlo was raised by a single mother trying to navigate a world dominated by men on the south side of Arkansas. Like many young black men, he too has the story of falling into gang activities. In his late teens, he was convicted of a gun charge and drug possession charge. Being in this position at such an early age he felt like his life was going to change for the worse and forever be jailed through his younger life of living. He has told me that in that sail he knew that when he got out he would become better.
In today's time currently, Charlo owns a clothing business. Charlo’s clothing business name is “Dope Runner”. He was founded in Little Rock Arkansas as he brought a new perspective to activewear to the city he was raised in. His first t-shirt was made at my mother's house as she was the one to encourage him to continue to push forward. When first released he only had t-shirts but now he has expanded to shoes, jumpsuits, shorts, kid line of clothing, underwear, sports bras, and sport tanks. This large expansion was possible by his gain of more client tail from going on the news forecast and really social media had played a huge role in him being able to expand to other states. Since he had gained so much clientele he no longer could make the clothing out of our home so he explored into getting a vendor in which he found someone in L.A.
Through the course of him creating his activewear, he began to start his journey into becoming a healthier person. He loses a significant amount of weight. Once he reached the weight loss of 130 pounds he then expanded on the “Dope Runner” brand by opening up a “Dope Runner Bootcamp”. This boot camp has changed lives as the health journey changed him. As of today, he is about 5’8, faded haircut with a medium fitzek. He is a 6 figure entrepreneur and still to this day is working on his clothing company “Dope Runner” having fashion shows, investing in stocks, and changing people's lives with boot camp.
