The city of Little Rock introduced an ambitious street plan in order to continue its westward expansion. Plans included the creation a new highway which would split the outer edge of West Rock. The convergence of this outer edge, along with parts of Pulaski Heights and the older East Pulaski Heights Addition became the Hillcrest Park Addition and simply known as Hillcrest today. Eventually, the capital city expanded further west into what is known today as The Heights and the Pleasant Valley regions.
