I consider myself a technical communicator because what I do goes beyond words. Technical communication encompasses writing, design, usability, and accessibility.
I'm fascinated with how language and technology shapes our reality.

Technical communication is pretty broad. As a technical communicator, I'm concerned with getting to the heart of the message to clarify and break down information so it can be more comprehensible and accessible.

My Education
December 2018, I received my Master's degree in Professional and Technical Writing (PTW) from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The PTW program provided me with a well-rounded education in technical writing, research, editing, usability, and design.
The program is unique to English programs because it focuses on nonfiction writing and the theories behind persuasive rhetoric and effective technical communication. I gained hands-on technical writing experience in many areas of technical communication. The PTW program gave me the opportunity to discover a passion for education and design and see where I fit into the technical writing industry.

July 2019, I was hired as a technical writer for the UA System Division of Agriculture. I love being able to use my skills to help people.
Working directly with the Digital Media Program Manager, I've been able to flourish as a writer, web developer, and trainer.

In just a short time, I learned so much about usability and accessibility in all aspects of digital media. Keeping a growth mindset has allowed me to push past anxieties and really focus on what's important-- improving our digital media efforts to help support Extension educators. I'm able to keep myself motivated knowing that what we do is for the greater good.
