This talk will dive into how resilience engineering principles—monitoring, learning, and anticipating—can be enhanced with AI and ML to improve safety systems. Traditional safety inspections are often limited by their infrequency, but by applying AI/ML, we can continuously learn from inspection and incident reports to spot hazards earlier and automate parts of the process.
Speaker:
Rose Marie Charuvil Elizabeth, Research Assistant at the University of Alberta, will share her work in applying AI/ML to risk management in industries like construction and mining.

We hosted an Automation Industry Mixer at the ETLC Solarium. As the first event organized by us, it was a resounding success. With over 100 attendees, including industry professionals, university professors, graduate and undergraduate students, the event served as a positive re-introduction of ISA to the UofA community. The enthusiastic turnout highlighted the strong interest in automation and the value of networking between students and industry experts.
