The Steadward Centre is a teaching and research centre housed within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta. Our mission is to inspire individual achievement in Adapted Physical Activity and Parasport by applying innovative research, widely sharing our expertise, and delivering highly successful programs, with and for, individuals experiencing disability.
We offer fitness, physical activity and sport programming in 4 main areas: Free2BMe Children & Youth Programs, Para Sport and Athlete Development, Adult Fitness, and Functional Electrical Stimulation.

Leadership Education for Athletes with Disabilities: LEAD is a 7-week leadership development program designed specifically for athletes with disabilities who are interested in growing their leadership skills and exploring leadership opportunities within sport and beyond.
Gym access hours and instructional time total over 3000 hours a year.
