Dr. Tsai is a newly recruited principle investigator in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. The Tsai lab is co-led by Dr. Xavier Clemente Casares, also a new recruit in MMI. Our lab was established with the support of the LiKaShing Institute of Virology, the Alberta Diabetes Institute, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Alberta.
Dr. Tsai 's laboratory utilizes genetic models to study immunometabolism, looking at the relationship between immune cells and metabolic pathways and environment both intrinsic and extrinsic to the immune cells. Dr. Clemente Casares has a keen interest in immune responses in the heart during viral infections and other heart disease conditions.
