The TODAY Lab at the University of Alberta offers opportunities for undergraduates to engage in groundbreaking research, available throughout the academic year and over the summer. We recognize the value of these experiences in shaping your career path, preparing for advanced studies, building solid references, and enhancing learning beyond the classroom.
For dedicated upper-year undergraduates aspiring to delve deeper, and curious about a career in Science, we offer the chance to undertake your thesis work within the field of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. If you're a high-achieving student with an intrigue for research, please contact Dr. Ruissen to discuss potential involvement in current lab projects or to initiate new research endeavours.
We are not actively seeking graduate students. However, eager applicants should possess a background in psychology, kinesiology, or quantitative fields like computer science, statistics, and mathematics. Ideal candidates should have a keen interest in our research area and either possess or be eager to develop skills in statistical programming using R and/or Python.
Our lab is committed to the principles of open science, ensuring our research is accessible and transparent. We also prioritize inclusivity and individualized mentorship, recognizing that each student's journey is unique and deserving of tailored guidance and support.
If you are passionate about contributing to research with respect to affect and physical activity and are looking for a program that offers personal mentorship and a commitment to open science, we encourage you to contact Dr. Ruissen.
