Our Research Focus

The research conducted within the TempOral Dynamics of Affect and ActivitY (TODAY) lab, at the University of Alberta, focuses on the dynamic interplay between affect (the underlying experience of feeling, emotion, attachment, or mood) and physical activity behaviour. We're exploring how these dynamic feedback loops unfold over time. Our approach uses a continuous-time framework to investigate the bidirectional relationship between affect and physical activity. A key aspect of our work is to understand these dynamics as they vary within individuals over time, tailoring our analysis to each person's unique experiences. Our ultimate aim is to leverage this knowledge to engineer just-in-time adaptive interventions to promote physical activity behaviour, particularly among individuals with a clinically diagnosed mood disorder.
