Initial reporting for your EST rotation is at 0730 a.m. in the CK HUI Heart Centre CCU. Please page Dr. Brochu (780-969-9194) via Switchboard/Locating as soon as you arrive.
Trainees on the ECG/EST rotation require access to iECG, an AHS IT application used for reading ECGs. If you do not already have access, please submit an access request to AHS by following the iECG Access User Guide instructions. When completing the request form, select your role as "Reviewing Cardiologist" and the Authorized Approver as Georgina Reid (Georgina.Reid@albertahealthservices.ca ) or Rachel Knezevic (Rachel.Knezevic@albertahealthservices.ca ).
Access requests should be submitted a minimum of 10 business days before the start of your rotation, although the earlier the better. If you have any questions, please contact AHS IT at 1-877-311-4300.
You will be sent your schedule via email from Dr. Brochu a few days prior to the rotation.
You will access the ECG reading software, IntelliSpace ECG, at the beginning of the block and then review approximately 50 ECGs each week from Dr. Brochu's inbox.
If you want to delete a statement from the computer interpretation then they type in the word delete
If you want to add text then they type in new text on a new line
When all done, you will type in their initials at the end of of the report and then hit save. By doing this, Dr. Brochu will know that you have reviewed it.
Once per week, you will sit down with Dr. Brochu and spend approximately one hour reviewing the cases that you have found most challenging.
In the last week of your rotation, you will write an ECG exam and attend an exam review session either with Dr. Brochu or Dr. Benoit.
