Our Research - Lab Themes
The PEAR lab has three main themes that our researchers work within:
Acceptance, adoption, and usability of rehabilitation, digital, and healthcare technologies. This theme focuses on understanding the acceptance, adoption, and use of rehabilitation, digital, and healthcare technologies by end-users in rehabilitation and healthcare contexts.
Implementation and validation of rehabilitation, digital, and healthcare technologies. This theme focuses on the understanding of the factors involved in the validation and implementation of rehabilitation, digital, and healthcare technologies. We test the effects of a technological intervention on relevant clinical outcomes while observing and gathering information on implementation.
Design and development of information and communication technologies-based platforms and use of data analytics. This theme focuses on the use of:
Data science research such as computer science, machine learning, as well as statistical and mathematical modelling to describe and predict missing incidents specific to persons living with dementia across Canada
Sensors and data analytics to measure the intrinsic capacity of healthy individuals and older adults with complex needs.
