He has been working in northern Canada since the 1990s with more than 25 field season in Yukon, NWT and Alaska on a diverse set of projects mostly focused on permafrost geoscience.
Alejandro Alvarez completed a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Earth Science at the University of Alberta, where he is currently pursuing a PhD. His research focuses on permafrost and the impacts of ground ice on landscape and community stability, with extensive fieldwork experience across Northern Canada. Alejandro has been actively involved in permafrost and Quaternary science initiatives and has worked closely with northern communities and environmental monitors. In 2025, he became the Interim PACS Lab Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations, including scheduling and analyses, safety protocols, training, and lab maintenance.
Jordan completed an undergraduate degree in Environmental Earth Sciences and subsequently an MSc. in tephrochronology in 2021. Since 2022 he has been the CT and MSCL technician and oversees the operation, maintenance, scheduling and analyses of all samples and materials on these machines. He also leads research on methods development for the CT and MSCL.
