Our project is an artistic drawing representing the hardships patients go through when they and their families are afflicted by a hereditary disease. With hereditary diseases the patient is not only faced with the difficulty of their own disease, but also the fallout of previous generations suffering. Worries about their posterity are also contributing to the suffering. The disease affects the family tree, especially the patients branch, which will be represented as a tree in a storm. Viewing this drawing will allow the audience to reflect on the effects of hereditary disease reaching backwards and forwards along the familial line causing intergenerational pain, worry and suffering. Specifics of the drawing are the following - A tree growing out of a kidney with polycystic kidney disease. The tree = family tree. The storm = suffering. The clear portion of the sky = hope for new treatments.
