Time with our patient mentors has made us appreciate the differences between a patient’s goals, perspective, understanding, and experience and that of their physicians. We observed stark differences in priorities, emotional experiences, and the long-term implications of decisions. Our project is an interactive piece that allows for the exploration of this dichotomy by highlighting how aspects of a healthcare encounter can be interpreted differently by the patient and the physician. We hope to emphasize the importance of viewing the patient as a whole, which will ultimately improve communication and patient care.
