The illness experience, though full of challenges, hardships and pain, is one that can also lead to growth and resilience. We wanted to explore the idea of growth through this experience and the lessons learned. Though each person had come into this mentorship with different roots, it was these values of growth and resilience that brought us together and have nurtured this growth in the form of the stream and sunlight on the trees in this forest. Each tree represents our own experiences and mentorship from our PIE mentor, with a tree representing our PIE mentor’s own experience and reflection.
