Sessions

Session One - Community Panel - The work of the Decolonizing Description Project cannot begin without grounding our work in community. We will hear from people who work closely with Indigenous community members and Indigenous-centred library spaces.

Session Two - Technical Panel - This panel seeks to delve into the various approaches to problematic subject headings and terminology within Canadian academic library contexts. More specifically, presenters will reveal their methods and potential solutions to these complex issues.

Session Three - Indigenous Scholar Panel - The concept of metadata is quite complex and abstract. Oftentimes, libraries can get lost in the world of classification. By turning our focus to the Indigenous scholars that use these the current library systems to conduct their research, we can begin to envision ways to create more appropriate systems for future students.
