At the LCL lab, we are all about stories! We are interested in how children understand and tell stories. We study storytelling in many forms, such as looking at picture books together, sharing personal stories, and using spoken or written stories. We believe that stories are an important part of how children learn to communicate, connect with others, and make sense of their everyday experiences. We are especially interested in how children understand complex language, in children who present with typical language development, but also in children who may present with language difficulties, and in autistic children. By learning more about how different children understand and share stories, we hope to better support their communication and learning in daily life.
