You do NOT need to be invited to submit a pitch. We are always happy to receive pitches and to work with you on your planning.
If you can, attend an upcoming IABA World or Chapter conference to see what IABA is like. You can provide an information pitch if you would like.
IABA World conferences are similar to Chapter conferences--Chapter conferences are pitched to a chapter group, and IABA World is pitched to Executive.
Make the pitch: email any member of the Executive and provide the following information
Location
Theme
Keynotes if you know them
Projected time frame for Call for Papers, Registration, when a website with information is available
Financial support and fee structure (IABA does not provide financial support but will support with advice on themes and structure)
Information about the conference team (working with a local team is advised)
The Executive will contact you to let you know if your pitch is accepted. Once your pitch is accepted and you have a Call for Papers, send it to a member of the Executive, and IABA will publicize it to its listerserv members and place it on the website. Past CFPs are here.
Running an IABA conference is extremely rewarding work. All members of the Executive have run a conference, and they are happy to support you.
